Hello 2nd Trimester!!

Welcome week 13!!  I'm excited to be entering my second trimester.  I'm especially looking forward to all of the wonderful changes my body will endure because my hormones will go through the roof.  For instance, the long lush hair, the never ending finger nails, the perfect skin!!  My belly has decided to say hello to the world.  It may not be very obvious to those around me, but trust me, it's there.  My pants are still fitting fine because I am carrying so high, but my shirts are a little snug in the you-know-where region.  If anyone knows of any good maternity buys  let me know.  I'm willing to try anything once.

In other news, I discovered yesterday that one of my best friends (and teammates) from high school is also expecting.  Funny thing, we're due a week apart.  Not to mention, another one of my dear high school friends is due in about a month or so.  I chatted with her for a while yesterday.  She had some wonderful tips considering our body types are very similar.  She's due in a month and hasn't had to wear maternity pants because of how she's carrying.  What a lucky gal.  Keep your fingers crossed that the same happens for me.  Congrats to Ryanne and continued good health to Val!!

I'm off to eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.  I can't get enough of them.  Crazy cravings! :)

12 Weeks and Building a Boat!!

We had our second appointment today with our OBGYN.  Long morning and lots of odds and ends to finish up.  We couldn't be happier with the service at UIHC.  Everyone is so courteous and personable.  We feel very comfortable with everyone around us, from our ultrasound tech to our OBGYN.  After the paperwork, initial exam (I'm right where I need to be) and a chit chat with our physician Den and I were able to take a peek at this little person.  At first he/she was quiet, no movement.  Right as I was getting a little concerned he/she started jumping around, doing squats, rolling over (apparently he/she got a little camera shy and turned its face from us) and as Dennis likes to say our kid was "building a boat".  Everything looks absolutely perfect!!  We got the all clear on some birth defects and developmental issues every parent worries about.  The heart was just as strong as our first visit, down to 154 bmp (174 bmp at 8 weeks) which is just where it needs to be at the moment.  Our due date is officially June 16th, and will be here before we know it.

The good news is no more morning sickness and I have a full appetite.  My belly has popped just a little bit more and is getting firmer every day it seems.  Payton is keeping me up on the exercise portion of this adventure.  We take a walk every day and I think he is thoroughly enjoying the snow now that it is here with full force.

I just want to take a second to thank everyone for their unconditional love and support.  We are very blessed to have such great friends and family, we couldn't do it without you.  And last but not least, I want to thank Den.  He's so supportive and has been nothing but helpful with every detail of this pregnancy, this baby and I are incredibly lucky to have him in our lives.

Our next appointment is in four weeks, just a routine check-up.  Hope to see everyone around Christmas.  Happy Holidays from Baby B!

We got a series of pictures, all profile shots, this being the clearest.   You can make out all facial features (including an open mouth)
and his/her long, skinny legs.  One arm is up behind its head and the other across its chest (so they were difficult to see).
He/she has a big bald head just like Den!!
