Happy 30th Anniversary, Gramma and Boompa!!

“The most wonderful of all things in life, I believe, is the discovery of another human being with whom one's relationship has a growing depth, beauty, and joy as the years increase. This inner progressiveness of love between two human beings is a most marvelous thing; it cannot be found by looking for it or by passionately wishing for it. It is a sort of divine accident, and the most wonderful of all things in life.”

Happy 30th Anniversary, Mike and Jane!!

We love you both so very much.

The Artist.

I would like to think that I'm pretty good about keeping things out of Michael's reach that he shouldn't play with.  Knives.  Matches.  Pens/pencils.  Apparently the little bugger found a pencil yesterday and took the opportunity to do some decorating in our upstairs hallway.  He's very clever this one.  I was preoccupied folding a load of laundry that has been sitting in a basket for five days (yep, I hate folding laundry), the second I heard the silence I knew to drop Den's underpants and go running.  Then, today, I gave the little guy the coloring book and crayons he got for Valentine's Day thinking that I would occupy ten minutes before bed with some controlled art.  Nope.  The second I get into changing a dirty diaper of Will's off he is again decorating- the hardwood floor this time!!  He's quick.  He's clever.  He's obsessed with doodling right now.  I secretly love it!!  Here's the little artist and some of his best work...

Good Bye, Illinois. Hello, Florida!!

Reason 2,436,747 I love my mother-in-law... Super Bowl Sunday she says to me, "Hey, so I got this crazy itch today and was looking at airfare rates to Florida.  Can you guys leave next Sunday?"  "What time is our flight?" was soon coming out of my mouth and what do ya know, but a week later we were in Florida.  Let me just note that I was scared to death to fly with two babies, especially a colicky six month old.  In fact, it was the only detail that would have kept us from going on the trip.  We downloaded a bunch of Michael's favorite cartoons on the iPad, poured rescue bottles for William and away we were.  The flights went so smooth, I loved hearing other passengers say they didn't even know there were babies onboard.  Phew... that went better than expected.  Anyways...  the beautiful Sandpiper Resort (The Tradewinds) was our home for a relaxing week on St. Pete's Beach.  We frolicked in the sand.  We danced in the Gulf of Mexico.  We gorged ourselves on delicious food.  We spent hours in hammocks on the beach.  We watched the crowd in the morning race to the beach for their morning strolls.  We watched unforgettable sunsets right outside our door.  We strolled for hours with a curious little boy by the name of Michael.  Those strolls would also be some of the best naps Will has ever taken.  We sun bathed for days on end at the pool.  We might have had a few cocktails with umbrellas in them.  We had many firsts for both boys.  It was glorious!  Michael loved his morning walks with Gramma.  William loved sitting in the cabana on the beach watching the world go by.  Daddy loved his authentic sea food.  Gramma loved her morning paper time OUTSIDE on our patio as opposed to inside watching the snow come down.  I loved running around in sun dresses and flip flops!!  The pictures say it all.  It was a wonderful trip.  And, now we are back home in Chicago where all of the snow has melted and hopefully spring is right around the corner (enter crossed fingers here)!  Thanks, Gramma, for making that trip possible!!

Hoopin' It Up.

My cousin Ethan (aka "E") happened to be playing in a basketball tournament in Lisle today so we wrapped the boys up and headed over to catch his team in the semis.  Michael has never seen a basketball game before.  He kept threatening to run out onto the court, and put on a show dancing to "Ring Around the Rosie" for the onlookers.  What a nut this kid is.  He sure does love the attention.  E's team went on to the championship and won!!  Way to go #25!!

Our Snow Bunny!!

Michael loves, Loves, LOVES being outdoors.  If I've said it once, I've said it a million times... SPRING PLEASE COME SOON!  I have had to do everything in my power over the last couple of days to keep Michael from cabin fever meltdowns.  He has the tenancy to stand at the sliding glass door and beg to go outside.  With all of the snow that we've had we were afraid we would lose him as he went wondering about the backyard.  So, today, Den took him out to explore in the 22+ inches.  This may come as a shocker, but he LOVED every single thing about it.  The stairs Daddy built him into a snow pile on the side of the driveway.  His own personal sledding hill.  Shoveling (what was left on the driveway) with Den.  Stomping his way across the deck in snow that came up to his waste.  One thing he didn't love??  Coming inside.  What am I going to do with this boy until spring gets here??
